Italian jewelry and 18k gold
Italian Jewellery includes ornaments worn by women, men, and children, usually made with precious metals such as 18 Karat gold and embellished with gems and use of various inserts (noble wood, ivory, coral like in cameos). The term has a broader meaning, theoretically goldsmith (linked to gold processing), but sometimes the two terms are treated as synonyms.
Among the techniques for finishing the jewelry is the embedding of precious stones like diamond, sapphire, ruby, emerald, etc. This is seen especially in rings and pendants, but also in bracelets, brooches, pins and earrings.
The jewelry scene (also known as costume jewelry in plain language) is made with cheaper materials but with the same result from the aesthetic point of view.
Regarding the etymology of this word we can say that the criticism is divided between the Latin words "Gaudia" generic term meaning joy, and "Jocale" for jewelry, gemstone and precious things.
Some cultures attribute special healing powers and a pledge of jewels. The jewelry can also have a symbolic value, such as the crucifix or the ring in the Christian religion.
